Bahrain's effort to combat trafficking in persons praised

Manama, Mar. 11 (BNA): CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, Osama Al Absi, today received the US Ambassador to Bahrain, Justin Siberell. Al Absi gave an overview of the latest developments in the labour market reform project, procedures taken for the development of the work environment over the past decade, in addition to the main projects and initiatives aimed at safeguarding rights of work parties. The meeting also discussed Bahrain's efforts to combat trafficking in persons and its role in passing its experience on to the countries of the region, as it has achieved Tier 1 status in recognition of its longstanding commitment to combatting human trafficking according to the US State Department’s 2018 annual report. The US Ambassador emphasized his country's support for Bahrain's efforts to promote work environment and combat trafficking in persons, which is the international community's appreciation.
