Bahrain's embassy to UK hosts reception, luncheon in Madrid, Spain

Madrid, Dec. 7 (BNA): The Non-Resident Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Kingdom of Spain, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, hosted a reception and luncheon in the Spanish capital Madrid, on the occasion of the Kingdom of Bahrain's national celebrations on 16 and 17 December, in commemoration of the establishment of the modern state of Bahrain as an Arab and Muslim country in 1783 by its founder Ahmed Al-Fateh, the 47th Anniversary of its accession to the UN as a full member and the 19th Anniversary of HM the King’s Accession to the Throne
The reception was attended by the Director General for the Maghreb, Africa, Mediterranean and Middle East at the Spanish Foreign Ministry, Eva Martínez Sánchez, representation of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Defence, Colonel Javier Batuecas Lopez, and Head of Strategy Department at the Ministry of Defence, Colonel Rafael Cervantes. Also in attendance were the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Arab Ambassadors, Ambassador Musa Odeh, and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mansour bin Khalid Al Saud, along with a number of ambassadors, diplomats, businessmen and journalists.
On this special occasion, the Bahraini Ambassador affirmed his pride in the historic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Spain, noting the mutual desire to constantly promote and develop these relations in various fields and levels.
He also commended the solid, joint principles of the two countries in consolidating security, stability and development through a clear reform vision, stressing that the historical success of the parliamentary and municipal elections in the Kingdom of Bahrain reflects the reformist and democratic approach evident in the Kingdom, as the massive turnout in the first and second rounds was the highest in the history of the Kingdom.
He also pointed out the significant role of Bahraini women in this democratic process and their outstanding participation in the parliamentary and municipal elections, which serves the interests of the country.
The Director General for the Maghreb, Africa, Mediterranean and Middle East expressed her hope for further cooperation between the two kingdoms in various fields, especially in trade and sports, as well as constructing partnerships with the public and private sectors for the benefit of both countries.
The Spanish officials expressed their appreciation for the great efforts exerted to enhance communication between the two countries and their aspiration for further cooperation. The attendees also extended their congratulations on this special occasion and wished the Kingdom of Bahrain further progress and prosperity.
