Bahrain's experience to foster peaceful coexistence receives international acclaim

New York, Sept. 28 (BNA): Heads of states and a host of political decision-makers from around the world visited Bahrain’s exhibition on tolerance, which is organised by This is Bahrain Society in cooperation with the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence at the UN headquarters in New York, the USA. Visitors to the exhibition included Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Theresa May, the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, the Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit, the Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary General Dr. Abdellatif Al Zayani and Foreign Ministers from Europe, Asia and South America. Diplomats and religious clerics lauded Bahrain’s success in promoting the culture of peaceful coexistence and tolerance between different doctrines. They affirmed in statements to Bahrain News Agency (BNA) that success of Bahrain’s model stems from a royal determination to foster religious and cultural tolerance and coexistence. Board of Trustees Chairman of Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (DERASAT) and Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said Bahrain’s participation in the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly and holding the exhibition at the UN headquarters reflects keenness of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on promoting tolerance and coexistence and projecting Bahrain as an international model to emulate. He pointed out that many countries and non-government organisations taking part in the UN sessions had expressed utmost appreciation of the climate of freedom, coexistence, tolerance and openness in Bahrain. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah stressed that Bahrain’s exhibition on tolerance is organised in a vital venue at the UN showcasing photos highlighting the national efforts of This is Bahrain Society and the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence to promote the royal vision for a peaceful world. Board of Trustees Chairman of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa described participation of This is Bahrain Society and the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence as unique for its aims to show the world commitment to the UN approach regarding comprehensive and sustainable peace for all. He pointed out the great response to Bahrain’s exhibition on tolerance, in New York, which translates the royal vision concerning the international message on peaceful coexistence and tolerance. The UN Assistant Secretary General and Director of the United Nations Development Programme Regional Bureau for Arab States Mourad Wahba hailed Bahrain’s vital activity in fostering tolerance and peaceful coexistence. He stressed the importance of transferring Bahrain’s unique experience to the UN, praising the kingdom’s sustainable development achievements. He said Bahrain’s model of peaceful coexistence is a source of pride for all Arab people and has to be spread worldwide to benefit many communities. Religious cleric Carlos Gomez lauded religious freedom in Bahrain and the kingdom’s unrelenting efforts to promote it worldwide from the UN headquarters. He also praised HM the King’s efforts to promote the tolerance and peaceful coexistence between all doctrines and cultures.
