Bahrain's gender equality model highlighted

Brussels, Sep. 6 (BNA): Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Secretary-General Hala Al Ansari and European Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality, Vera Girouva, today held a meeting at the EU headquarters in Brussels.  The two sides discussed cooperation in areas of the integration of women's needs in the development process and gender equality and balance in the labor market.  Al Ansari reviewed Bahrain's adoption of legislation supportive to women and families, in addition to other policies based on equal opportunities, pointing out the Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women Empowerment as a national initiative to achieve the goals of sustainable development.  SCW Director-General for Policies and Development, Shaikha Dina Al Khalifa, spoke of aligning state policies and plans with the goals of sustainable development to achieve gender balance and ensure the sustainability of Bahraini women's progress.  Girouva welcomed Bahrain’s interest in supporting empowerment of women, wishing it to maintain the qualitative achievements in the same field.
