Bahrain's implementation of UNSC resolutions reviewed

Manama, Mar. 10 (BNA): The National Committee to follow up on Bahrain's commitment to all UN Security Council’s resolutions held its third meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters presided by the Undersecretary of International Affairs Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa in the presence of members of the committee representing ministries and the concerned governmental entities.
The meeting reviewed the measures taken to follow up the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions in accordance with the obligations of the Kingdom of Bahrain. In addition to that, the meeting also reviewed the most important outcomes of the meetings of the National Committees' working groups and their efforts to implement their work plan for the current year, in order to strengthen the mechanisms for international cooperation and sustainable coordination at the national level to ensure the strict application of UN resolutions.
Dr. Shaikh Abdullah valued the great responsiveness and constructive cooperation of the concerned bodies with the activities of the Committee in order to achieve the tasks and responsibilities entrusted to it, stressing the importance of taking time into the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, in accordance with international standards.
The undersecretary highlighted that the foreign policy of Bahrain under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has always positively contributed and cooperated with the United Nations and its specialized agencies, organizations and programs, and is interested in constructing an ongoing partnership with the international organization.
He also praised the Kingdom’s outstanding contributions to the promotion of interreligious dialogue, the support the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, the launch of global initiatives for education, youth and others, achieving sustainable development goals, protecting rights and freedoms as an active member of the Human Rights Council, as well as its active and pivotal role in the fight against terrorism.
The undersecretary said, "The Kingdom of Bahrain has always been at the forefront in interacting with and facilitating the goals, purposes and principles of the United Nations and its subsidiary bodies and adoption of its resolutions, ever since it became a member of this international organization" He added that "The Kingdom has committed itself to maintaining international peace and security and developing friendly relations with the peace-loving States of the world, with a firm belief that the sovereignty of peace at the regional and global level is a major goal that should be achieved."
The undersecretary said that the Kingdom trusts in the important role that the United Nations Security Council undertakes in keeping international peace and security, with special regards to the security facing the Middle East. He stressed the importance of the full implementation of international decisions in order to stop any practices and violations by irresponsible parties that destabilize regional peace through the interference in other countries’ affairs and sponsoring terrorism.
It is worth mentioning that countries must enforce targeted financial sanction regimes, according to the United Nations Security Council decisions, issued under the 7th chapter of the United Nations within hours from its adoption. These decisions also oblige the countries to freeze, without further delay, all funds and assets of any individual or entity, and to ensure to withhold them, directly or indirectly, from benefiting from them.
