Bahrain's Oil Minister visits GPIC pavilion at GPCA event

Dubai, Dec. 2 (BNA): Oil Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa visited the Gulf Petrochemical Industries company (GPIC) pavilion at the Gulf Petrochemical and Chemical Association (GPCA) 13th Annual Forum in Dubai. The minister was received by Board of Directors Chairman Dr. Ahmed Al Sharyan and company President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery along with other officials. Dr. Al Sharyan gave the visitors a briefing on the high-quality chemicals and fertilizers produced at GPIC by a manufacturing process that takes into consideration all international standards in the field of occupational safety, the health and the environment. The minister was also briefed on the company's products exported to the world's largest markets. Shaikh Mohammed reviewed the publications and leaflets the company distributes among the community to raise awareness about the importance of adopting principles of safety and concern for the environment. The minister expressed admiration at the advanced level of the company and appreciated its outstanding contributions in the industrial and community development fields through awareness programmes. He praised the company's participation in the forum. The minister spoke of the company’s capabilities and praised its achievements during the past years. He also spoke of the top-quality petrochemicals and fertilizers produced at GPIC and the company’s development, which had brought honour to Bahrain. The minister stressed the importance of participating in such events to highlight the extent of the development of Bahrain’s industrial companies. He praised the active participation in the exhibition and its high-class pavilion where the company’s achievements were highlighted. Dr. Jawahery thanked the minister for his visit and his praise for the company. Earlier, the minister delivered a speech at the opening of the forum, which was held under his patronage. This year's event was attended by more than 2000 executives and others from 52 countries. During the speech, the minister stressed the need to adopt the principle of change in companies and said it was only then that sustainability could be achieved for many years to come. GPIC participated in the forum with a high-level delegation headed by Dr. Al Sharyan. The forum was held on November 27-29, themed "Achieving transformation and investment". Specialists presented technical papers, discussed and deliberated important issues. The GPCA is the first union of its kind in the Middle East. It has witnessed a steady expansion in its activities since it was set up in March 2006 to guide the chemical and petrochemical industries in the Gulf States towards a new era of fruitful cooperation. The GPCA has achieved a new dimension in its mission by creating a forum for discussion and a platform through which petrochemical and chemical companies communicate and share their concepts and ideas. It has gained a good reputation since its inception to guide the sector in the region.
