Bahrain's pivotal role in boosting security, stability stressed

Manama, Dec. 5 (BNA): Representatives Council Speaker, Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, has affirmed the importance of the Manama Dialogue, which is held for the 16th time in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as a unique international platform for decision-makers and experts to discuss key regional and global issues. She described the forum as a reflection of the proactive role of the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in supporting international endeavors to promote security and stability.
Zainal stressed that the Manama Dialogue 2020 derives its importance from being the biggest security summit in the Middle East during this year with more than 3000 high profile personalities and experts representing 50 countries taking part in it despite the exceptional circumstances caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic as well as the political, economic, security and social challenges undergone by the Middle East and the whole world.
The Representatives Council Speaker pointed out that holding the Manama Dialogue forum in spite of the COVID-19-related hardships mirrors the high competence and pioneering status of the Kingdom of Bahrain in applying the best health measures and strategic plans during the current crisis. She praised the royal directives and the government’s efforts in this respect which helped curtail the spread of the virus and fast-track development.
Zainal asserted that keenness to continue organizing the forum underscores the kingdom’s unwavering stance to back the international efforts aimed at boosting security and stability, promoting development and ensuring a better future for people. She also pointed out that the issues tackled by the forum shed light on sensitive topics related to settling conflicts, boosting security cooperation in the Middle East and discussing global governance in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic. She noted that the forum represents an opportunity to take bilateral or multilateral initiatives to end conflicts and foster cooperation at the regional and international level.
