Bahrain's resolve to root out terrorism stressed

Manama, Feb. 11 (BNA): Information Minister and Board of Trustees Chairman of Bahrain Institute for Political Development Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi stressed that success of the Bahraini security bodies to foil an escape bid of prisoners and terror suspects to Iran by the sea is a message to anyone who tampers with the kingdom’s security and stability, tries to terrorize people and defy the rule of the law. In a statement to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, he affirmed that Bahrain is going ahead with fighting terrorism and rooting it out thanks to the vigilance and competence of its security bodies as well as its sound legal and judicial procedures. The Information Minister pointed out Bahrain’s success in busting terror cells and tracking down and arresting terrorists and their supporters, adding that initial investigation in similar cases have proved the implication of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and the terrorist parties loyal to it. He commended the GCC unwavering fraternal stance supporting Bahrain and its measures to maintain security, stability as well as national and regional sovereignty. This, he added, proves that security of the Arabian Gulf is integral and will always remain immune against threats and extremist organisations. The Information Minister affirmed that the GCC countries will never veer off its stances in calling on Iran to comply with the principles of good neighbourliness, respect international covenants, prevent using its lands to harbour or train terrorists, stop interfering in the GCC countries’ internal affairs and play a part in boosting people’s welfare in the region. The Information Minister asserted that Bahrain has a tolerant and peaceful policy. Yet, it will show no resilience in rooting out the forces of evil and terrorism. He stressed the need to boost GCC and Arab coordination to confront foreign conspiracies and prevent misusing mass media and websites to incite violence, religious hatred, sectarianism and racism. He emphasised that the Bahraini people, while celebrating the 16th anniversary of the National Action Charter which was approved with an overwhelming majority of 98.4% of the Bahraini people on February 14, 2001, is resolved to continue reaping the dividends of reform, democracy and economic development and protecting the state of law and institutions from subversive and sectarian projects.
