Bahrain's Shura Council supports anti-corruption efforts

Manama, Dec.8 (BNA): The Shura Council expressed full support to efforts aimed at rooting out the scourge of corruption. It stressed the importance of passing laws and legislations to combat corruption and consolidate the principles of transparency, accountability and integrity. The Shura Council underscored the necessity of strengthening the anti-corruption mechanisms so as to bolster the march of reform and sustainable development in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It issued the statement on the eve of the International Anti-corruption Day, which falls every year on the 9th of December. It commended the strenuous efforts being exerted to to combat all forms of financial and administrative corruption, hailing the role of the Government to implement Arab and international agreements and conventions. The statement lauded the efforts being exerted by the Ministry of Interior to combat all forms of corruption, stressing the responsibility of the official authorities, civil society and citizens to combat illegal acts and practices.
