Manama, Dec. 5 (BNA): Mohammed Al Marafi, Member of Parliament (MP) and Head of Committee on Human Rights in the Council of Representatives said the Kingdom of Bahrain has achieved very high rates of human development aspects as per the UN's Human Development Index.
Bahrain recorded an average five percent growth rate over the past five years, he said, adding that the various official departments and institutions, thanks to the synergy between the legislative and executive branches, have realized the importance of sustainable development to achieve growth and advancement, and earlier took unpreceded steps in consolidating the principles of sustainable development.
The Council of Representatives even before its approval of the Government Action Plan (GAP 2014-2018) was keen to include the priorities that will achieve the Kingdom's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the interest of Bahrain and its citizens.
Al Marafi made his remarks on Monday during his participation in a workshop on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in correlation with parliament and human rights.
The workshop was organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Istanbul, Turkey.
