Bahrain's women empowerment strides highlighted

Manama, Aug. 21 (BNA): Bahraini Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Kingdom of Denmark, and Representative to the European Union and NATO, Dr. Bahia Jawad Al Jishi, received at the Embassy's headquarters, Director of the Department of Middle East and North Africa Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium, Peter Huyghebaert.
During the meeting, Dr. Bahia Jawad Al-Jishi reviewed the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in empowering Bahraini women, noting that Bahrain has moved from the stage of empowerment to the stage of progress and advancement, thanks to the care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW). She also highlighted contribution of Bahraini women to the public and private sectors and entrepreneurial work by assuming leading positions, and taking up high posts in the executive, legislative and judicial authorities.
She also noted the celebration of women in the field of diplomatic work for the year 2020 by the SCW.
Both sides discussed ways of boosting cooperation mainly in the economic, educational and health fields. They also reviewed a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
For his part, Mr. Peter Huyghebaert praised the persistent efforts and thoughtful steps taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to mitigate the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and ensure the safety and health of citizens and residents.
He also lauded Bahrain’s hosting of the annual Manama Dialogue Forum, which is considered a leading platform in the field of security affairs and regional and international strategy.
He praised growing bilateral cooperation at all levels.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Al-Jishi presented Mr. Peter Huyghebaert with a commemorative gift representing an era in Bahrain's history.
