Bang Rak district prepares for mass marriage registration on Valentine’s Day

BANGKOK, Feb 6 (TNA) – Bangkok’s Bang Rak district will hold the “Season of Love” event for couples to register their marriages with the district on Valentine’s Day, offering gold marriage certificates for ten winners in lucky draws. Pol Maj Gen Panurat Meepien, advisor to Bangkok governor said the event will be held at the Bang Rak Central Post Office on Charoen Krung Road. Couples, who want to tie the knot on Feb 14 must submit their document in advance at the Bangrak district office or on Line application through Line ID “onlinecupid” from Jan 22 to Feb 12. Pakkakorn Sanguansak, the district chief said that the marriage application forms will be handed out from 7am to 4pm. After a traditional Thai wedding procession at 7.30 am, the registration for the first couple will start at 8 am. An hourly luck draw will be held from 8 am to 5 pm. Ten winning couples will receive 10 marriage certificates made of gold. Souvenirs will be distributed to all couples, registering marriage on that day. "Bang Rak" literally means 'the village of love' in Thai, so it is popular among couples to register their marriage there, especially on the Valentine's Day. (TNA)
