Bangkok exhibits booth at international tourism trade show

BANGKOK, March 12 (TNA) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) participated in the international tourism fair under the theme “Bangkok Smile” in Germany from March 7-11. Deputy Permanent Secretary for BMA, Silapasuai Rawisaengsun and Kosit Aksornchart, Deputy Director of the BMA’s Culture Sports and Tourism Department attended the Bangkok tourism exhibition booth at the Internationale Tourismus Börse or ITB2018 at the Messe Berlin Exhibition Ground. Deputy permanent secretary said that BMA arranged roadshow campaigns to publicize and promote Bangkok tourism to maintain tourism markets in Europe while focusing on tourist groups with strong buying power. BMA plans to draw more European tourists to travel to Bangkok to stimulate the economy. “Bangkok Smile” theme featured Thai culture, river tours, shopping, gastronomy tourism and value for money. At the Bangkok exhibition booth, there were cultural shows, demonstrations of Thai handicrafts such as weaving fish from palm leaf and exhibitions of Khon masks, Thai puppets, and Benjarong porcelain tea sets. Thai traditional costumes are offered for visitors to wear for taking pictures at the booth while cloth bags, postcards, pins and checkered fabric or Pha Khao Ma were given away to visitors. The ITB brings together prominent people from the tourism industry to network, negotiate and do business. Each year, the event welcomes around 10,000 exhibitors from more than 180 countries. (TNA)
