Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair organized Sept 6-10

BANGKOK, September 6 (TNA) - Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair, the 52nd of its kind, is being held in Mueang Thong Thani on the outskirts of Bangkok from September 6-10, 2013. Thai Deputy Commerce Minister Nattawut Saikua presided over the opening ceremony of the 52nd Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair on Friday. At the event, Nattawut said that Thai Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra had invited a large-scaled gem mining concessionaire in Mozambique, during her recent trip to the African nation, to build a factory and sell gemstones in Thailand. According to the deputy commerce minister, the new investment should further boost Thailand's exports of gems and ornaments. Somchai Phornchindarak, President of the Thai Gem & Jewelry Traders Association, projected, meanwhile, that Thai exports of precious stones should grow by 3-5 per cent this year. (TNA)
