Bangkok Governor: Flooding situation in the capital is normal
BANGKOK, September 18 (TNA) - Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumphan Paribatra said Tuesday flooding situation in the Thai capital remains normal.
“The flooding situation in the capital is not to be worried about, particularly the water from the north, since he has received a report that the water level in the Chao Phraya River Tuesday morning, is only a little over a metre high, which is normal,” Governor Sukhumphan said.
Sukhumphan said he is more worried about the increasing rainfall in the city, as forecast by the Thai Meteorological Department. Therefore, he ordered the 13 district offices near and around the Chao Phraya River to inform their communities and people to be on high alert for more precipitations.
The governor also asked for understandings from the people that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) would need at least 2-3 hours to pump out all 60 millimetres of excessive rainfall. (TNA)
