Bangkok governor returns to work

BANGKOK, September 6 (TNA) - Bangkok Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra has returned to work, after the Appeals Court ruled on Friday to dismiss a case brought against him by the Election Commission of Thailand (EC), in which he was alleged of electoral fraud. Veera Yeephrae, Bangkok election director, told journalists that he respects the court's ruling and MR Sukhumbhand can resume his duty as the incumbent Bangkok governor immediately, as the case has ended and no fresh appeal will be made. The EC handed a yellow card to the Bangkok governor on March 11, 2013, after he was re-elected to the post for the second four-year term, forcing him to stop working. Veera explained that there was nothing wrong that the Appeals Court held a different opinion from the EC, as the election agency considered from an evidence it obtained, while the court considered at issues it doubted. Meanwhile, MR Sukhumbhand told reporters after the court's verdict that he will tackle flood problems as his priority because many people in the capital are worried about it. (TNA)
