Bangkok to join 60+Earth Hour 2012
BANGKOK, March 26 (TNA) - Bangkok will join more than 100 other cities across the world in the 60+Earth Hour 2012 energy-saving campaign, under which households and all other buildings are encouraged to switch off lights for an hour between 8:30pm and 9:30pm.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will organize the event at the CentralWorld shopping complex in Ratchaprasong, a prime business area in the Thai capital, on March 31, aimed to help ease the escalating global warming problem or climate change.
Last year’s Earth Hour campaign in the Bangkok reportedly helped cut greenhouse gas emissions, particularly carbon dioxide, by 1,255 tons and conserved energy by over 6.6 million baht. (TNA)
