Bangkok police rehearse on security for ‘Bike for Dad’

BANGKOK, Dec 7 (TNA) -- Bangkok police have conducted a security rehearsal for cyclists participating in the ‘Bike for Dad’ event to be held Friday in celebration for His Majesty the King’s 88th birthday, said a senior police officer. Bangkok Metropolitan Police deputy commander Pol Maj Gen Adul Narongsak said the rehearsal was held Sunday in which police would provide security and facilitate traffic flow on 32 designated areas along the 29- kilometer long distance for the ‘Bike for Dad’ event organised to celebrate His Majesty the King’s 88th birthday which fell on December 5. Pol Maj Gen Adul said preparations by the police are now 100 per cent complete. Also, a rehearsal by 1,120 reinforced border patrol policemen has been conducted. Each border patrol policeman along with a policeman and a soldier will be posted at every metre of the total route where the cyclists would ride their bikes on that day. Bangkok police and workers of the City Hall will clean five major areas including the Royal Plaza, Yaowaraj, Ratchaprasong intersection, roundabout King Taksin monument and the Royal Thai Navy headquarters this Wednesday and Thursday. The ‘Bike for Dad’ event will be held nationwide while in Bangkok the cyclists will be led by Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn. (TNA)
