Bangkok ranked second in top tourist destinations survey

BANGKOK, Nov 9 (TNA) – Bangkok is ranked second in the 2017 Top 100 City Destinations ranking by Euromonitor International. The market researcher says Bangkok recorded 21.25 million visitors in 2016 and about 23.27 million tourist arrivals are expected in 2017 or about 9.5% growth. Besides the capital city of Bangkok, Thailand’s two seaside cities, Phuket and Pattaya took 11th place and 24th place respectively in the world ranking. Hong Kong retains the first place as the most visited city for nine consecutive years with 26.55 million visitors in 2016. London followed in the third place with 19.2 million visitors in the same year. Singapore took the fourth place, followed by Macau ranked fifth. The ranking is based on research in 100 countries and the number of international arrivals, spending at least 24 hours in each city. Asian cities are dominating the Top 100 City Destinations, with 41 cities in 2017 and this is likely to reach 47 by 2025, says Euromonitor International, the world’s leading provider for global business intelligence and strategic market analysis.
