BBBF launches new special interest group

Manama, Mar. 8 (BNA): The Bahrain-British Business Forum (BBBF) has launched, in collaboration with Capital Club, a ‘Women in Business’ special interest group (SIG) to empower women in the field of business, enhance their professional capabilities, enable them to share knowledge on local and global markets, encourage entrepreneurship and consolidate bilateral relations.
The SIG, which was launched yesterday marking the International Women's Day 2017, also aims to complete BBBF's trade functions and relations through promoting the exchange of knowledge, encouraging interpersonal relationships and supporting businesswomen.
The opening session featured a panel discussion on the "Opinions of women leaders on business sectors."
Director at the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance, BIBF, Solveig Nicklos, the General Manager of the Westin Bahrain City Centre and Le Méridien Bahrain City Centre, Anna-Marie Dowling and the Chief Executive Officer and Creative Director of Obai and Hill, Wafa Al-Obaidat spoke during the session, which was moderated by the Head of the UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) department at the UK Embassy in Bahrain, Christian Syme.
The participants discussed ways to take advantage of the best international practices in the Middle East, the impact of regional culture in global markets, as well as ways to enhance leadership skills.
Bahrain-British Business Forum (BBBF) is a leading network comprising businessmen and businesswomen in Bahrain.
It aims to promote trade and investment between Bahrain and Britain through the provision of opportunities for interpersonal relationships and information sharing between the business communities in the two countries.
BBBF includes nine SIGs covering the sectors of oil, gas, energy, hospitality, construction, financial and banking services, information technology and law, as well as law, organisational competencies and young professionals.
