BIA’s Environment Committee gains new insight during workshop

Manama, Sept. 12 (BNA): The Bahrain International Airport (BIA) Environment Committee gained a broader understanding of effective waste management and the latest technologies in this field during a virtual workshop. University of Bahrain Physics Department and Renewable Energy Lab Department Chairperson Dr. Hanan Al Buflasa hosted the event, which covered a range of topics. The workshop is aimed to raise awareness of waste management strategies and technologies, provide a learning platform, and guide stakeholders on how to improve environmental performance. It also reinforced the importance of BIA’s waste management project, which was introduced at the committee’s previous meeting. The project will divert BIA’s waste from landfills, helping the company to reach zero net waste and safeguard the environment. It has two phases, data collection, and creating an action plan for improvement The BIA Environment Committee was formed in 2020 with the goals of improving environmental performance at the airport, tackling emerging environmental issues, and providing a platform to exchange best practices.
