BIPD launches interactive application for voters, candidates

Manama, Nov. 7 (BNA): The Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD) today launched a new smart phone application called "Voters’ Square", which is the first of its kind social media platform for communication between voters and candidates. Freely downloadable via app.darrib.com, the unprecedented application delivers distinguished services to both voters and candidates of the upcoming parliamentary and municipal elections. The application is based on winning points and exchanging them by valuable prizes granted by Batelco, its official sponsors, in the end of the elections. Commenting on the application, BIPD’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Anwar Ahmed, said that the innovative initiative aims to create an electronic square where voters and candidates can meet, noting that voters can have access to all news and media materials related to all candidates, and the more they interact, the more chances they will have to win Batelco prizes. He pointed out that the application is divided into two sections, one for voters and the other for candidates, adding that it is easily accessible to all social segments and aims to facilitate communication between voters and candidates to raise electoral awareness and encourage users’ interaction through reaching the highest number of points through which they can win prizes. He added that the application will include a special account for each candidate through which they can present their electoral programmes to the voters of their constituency. He noted that registered users will identify their constituency’s candidates and number of voters. Anwar Ahmed expressed hope that the application will contribute effectively to supporting the electoral process.
