BISBH holds IBDP visual arts exhibition

By Zahraa Baqer
Manama, June 6 (BNA): Celebrating World Arts Education Week, the IBDP Department of Britus International School (BISBH) held its first Art Exhibition “The 3C’s of 21st Century’s Visual Arts (Cultural Competency, Creative Generation and Competitive Environment).”
The exhibition represented the culmination of grades 11 and 12 visual art students as they showcased their creative pieces ranging from 2D to 3D art forms, digital-based works, and art installations.
The opening ceremony featured guest speaker Farah Mohammed Mattar, Director of Culture and Arts of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA).
“The essential role of acquiring Art into education is undeniable, it is an integral dimension for someone to be a valuable individual as this unique talent should always be flourished,” Farah said.
Twelve IB students presented their component submissions with personally chosen themes from different aspects of life and social issues such as mental health, beauty, people and their naturalism, and fantasies.
"I never thought I'd ever have the power to draw or paint in my life, and I always seek inspiration from other artists," Haider Al Saffar, a participating student, said.
"And I always aim to inspire people with my art. Joining the IBDP made me discover my hidden talent as an artist."
The IBDP program presented the importance of the educational entity as a whole in allowing students of distinct talents to grow and further discover their passion for arts as they share it with the audience.
“This exhibition is in line with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme course and Visual Arts as the subject of this exhibition," IBDP visual arts teacher Jesus Tejada.
"We don't define beauty in these works as IB doesn't believe in the concept of beauty; we define beauty by the process, inspiration, and knowledge of theories."
The exhibition will be held until June 9 at BISBH International School IB/IG hall at 10am reception and 3pm reception.
