BJA president wins award

London, Nov.28 (BNA): Bahrain Journalists’ Association (BJA) President Ahdeya Ahmed Al-Sayyed has been awarded the fifth edition of the Arab Woman Prize. The Arab London Foundation has announced the award at a major ceremony held in the British capital.
The award recognizes the achievements of the BJA president who became recently the first Arabian Gulf woman to be elected as member of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) Gender Council.
The BJA president was congratulated by journalists, media figures and senior officials representing press institutions in Britain. The Arab London Foundation held the annual ceremony in cooperation with the Regent’s University in London, Bicester Village, Fast Consortium Company, the UN Refugee Agency, in addition to other British institutions and NGOs.
She expressed delight at winning the award as Bahrain gears up to celebrated the national days and the Bahrain Women’s Day. She dedicated the award to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and Supreme Council for Women (SCW) President, hailing landmark Bahraini women’s achievements in all fields.
She also dedicated the award to her family as well as the press community, hailing the award as an honour to all Bahraini women journalists who serve the nation with utmost dedication.
