BMA: Futsal field to be completed in time for 2012 Futsal World Championship

BANGKOK, September 20 (TNA) - Deputy Bangkok Governor Theerachon Manomaipiboon said on Thursday that Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has completed 83 percent of the construction of the futsal field that would be used for the 2012 Futsal World Championship. Theerachon said the other 17 percent left is only of plastering the walls, which the BMA has hired more workers to speed up the task, while also finishing up the interior decorations and improving the surrounding areas. The deputy governor said he expects the field to be finished in time for the tournament, despite the delay by the recent continuous heavy rainfall in the city, acknowledging that after the roofs are installed, works in other parts of the field should become easier to complete. FIFA has planned to visit the field and inspect its readiness on October 12 and would officially accept the field on October 20. The said futsal field can cater up to 12,000 spectators and has a car park that can accommodate up to 1,000 vehicles. Moreover, the field was built on the foundation of safety for the public and after its completion, relevant agencies would test out the field by packing it up to its full capacity to further check its safety.
