BMA on high alert after bombs in inner Bangkok

BANGKOK, February 15 (TNA) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has assigned city police, workers and volunteers to help look out suspicious materials, following a series of explosions on Sukhumvit 71 Road in the capital on Tuesday. BMA Spokesperson Wasan Meewong told journalists Wednesday that Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra has instructed all parties concerned under the City Authority to heighten security around the capital, with tight measures used during the New Year festival having been reinstated, covering full-functioned close-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) in all areas. The spokesman urged the general public to join the BMA authorities, workers and volunteers in closely monitoring the situation and providing tip-offs of any suspicious material or act to the City Hall via its hotline 1555 around the clock.
