BNA director-general attends FANA assembly

Riyadh, Jan. 11 (BNA): Bahrain News Agency (BNA) Director-General Abdulla Khalil Buhejji is participating in the 48th General Assembly of Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) that started on Tuesday. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) is hosting the two-day assembly in the Saudi capital Riyadh under the theme “Role of news agencies in confronting fake news.” Buhejji stressed the importance of the meeting which convenes amid the global pitfalls resulting from the coronavirus (COVID-19), underlining the role of the media in spreading community awareness to combat the pandemic and highlighting Arab efforts to protect public health. He underscored the pivotal role played by news agencies in debunking fake news, adding that official news agencies have confirmed their credibility through their news and reports. He described the assembly as an opportunity to enhance cooperation between Arab news agencies, extending thanks to SPA Chairman Dr. Majid bin Abdulla Al Qasabi, SPA President Fahad bin Hassan Al Aqran and all the organisers of the conference for their efforts. The BNA director-general hoped the outcome of the meeting would contribute to further enhance the work of Arab news agencies and consolidate their ability to deal with current challenges and keep pace with the telecommunications and information technological strides.
