BRCS participates in Lebanon “Youth & Health” workshop

Beirut, Mar. 2 (BNA): Eight volunteers from the Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) took part in Lebanon “Youth & Health” workshop held in cooperation with the Lebanese Red Cross along with their counterparts from three Arab countries.
The two-day workshop focused on training volunteers on critical humanitarian soft skills and preparing them to face most urgent challenges in a contemporary conflict environment and network their knowledge to other aid workers.
Additionally, the workshop discussed different topics on good networking skills, ability to plan well, team working skills, key skills for volunteers so they can better navigate humanitarian situation, as well as medical skills to raise medical awareness across youth thus to enhance their awareness of health risks such as drugs or sexual diseases.
Dr. Fawzi Amen, General Secretary of BRCS, said, “BRCS participation in this work shop reflects BRCS efforts to build and enhance youth leaders’ skills and knowledge through hands-on and realistic exercises to prepare volunteers for hazards that may impact any area and to provide basic emergency disaster response skills and disaster medical operations to help people,”
Dr Amin also asserted that this workshop is paralleled to BRCS workshops that educate volunteers about disaster preparedness, fire suppression, medical operations and leadership skills. It also comes in line with BRCS efforts to bring in more youth volunteers and thus to strengthen Bahrain’s position on the regional and international humanitarian work map.
