Astana, January 14, 2010 (Khabar) - 1 500 crimes were committed in Kazakhstan last week, and policemen managed to reveal 1 200 crimes on hot pursuit. Kuanyshbek Zhumanov, spokesman of Ministry of Internal Affairs of RK has said this at a briefing in Astana. According to him, only during the first two weeks of the new year 170 drug-related crimes were identified, and over 70 kilograms of drugs were seized. In Kostanai region repeat offenders who committed three serious crimes during one hour was arrested. On the eve of New Year he attacked pensioners with a knife. The hijackers of cars were detained in the capital. Police managed to prove that just these criminals last autumn of last year took a woman taken outside the city, killed her, and tried to sell the car. The suspects were arrested. Kuanyshbek Zhumanov has also told about investigation of the murder of journalist from Kyrgyzstan Gennady Pavlyuk. Special group of law enforcement bodies of Kazakhstan investigates this crime. Last week they met with the leadership of law enforcement agencies of Kyrgyzstan.

They met with First Deputy Internal Minister of KR and the first deputy prosecutor general, and defined joint activities. It should be noted, the Kyrgyz side had also established special group. Currently the Interior Ministry can not comment on details of the crime.
