Brussels’ “Unexposed” exhibit uncovers works of Iranian artists

TEHRAN,Dec.10(MNA) --Artworks by 40 female artists from Iran are currently on display in a group exhibition at the Cantara Art Gallery in Brussels, Belgium. Entitled “Unexposed”, the exhibit features photos, paintings and installation works created by artists born between 1971 and 1991. The idea of organizing the exhibition was presented in 2010 by Cantara curator Fery Malek-Madani, who appealed to Iranian artists. Works by 40 artists were selected from among 400 people who applied for participating in the exhibition, which runs until December 25. The exhibit was named “Unexposed” since the only common point of the 80 works (2 per artist) is that almost all of the works have never been exhibited in public. Among the artists are Samin Abarquii, Alieh Abedini, Asareh Akkasheh, Zahra Madani, Sahar Mokhtari, Delara Pakdel, Shima Sohrabi and Atusa Vahdani. The exhibition will travel to Athens in February 2013 for another show, which will be running until the end of March. Warsaw will be the next stop of the show, which will be held there from April 15 to June 15.
