Bus crash kills many in Tak
TAK, April 10 (TNA) -- Six Myanmar people were killed when a double-decker bus plunged from a highway on Doi Ruak mountain in Tak province.
Later, another bus hit a vehicle of police inspecting the scene and killed a labour official.
The double-decker registered in Bangkok with the licence plate number 33-5488 overturned on a downhill slope at the 200th kilometer marker of Mae Sot-Tak Road while it was carrying 51 Myanmar workers to Plaeng Yao district of Chachoengsao province. Six people were killed instantly.
Seventeen people were injured and treated at Somdejphrajaotaksin Maharaj Hospital. Many other people were slightly injured. Police assumed that the accident resulted from speed limit violation or a brake failure.
While officials were inspecting the scene, another speeding bus hit a highway police vehicle. It killed a local labour welfare official and injured many others. (TNA)
