CAA Organizes Air Traffic Flow Management Course with ICAO

Doha, March 30 (QNA) - The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), in cooperation with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), organized a training course in air traffic flow management in preparation for operational intensity during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, under the patronage of HE Minister of Transport Jassim bin Saif bin Ahmed Al Sulaiti.
The course, which was organized in two phases from March 27-30, was attended by trainees from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Republic of Iraq, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Lebanon, and the Republic of Sudan, in addition to the State of Qatar.
The course's activities, which were presented by a group of international experts, aimed to contribute effectively to managing the flow of air traffic between the countries of the region to ensure the flow and safety of aircraft movement during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
In addition, the course introduced to the participants the advantages of the navigation systems applied by the CAA in the State of Qatar so that the countries of the region can provide effective and safe services in proportion to the expected increase in air traffic during the tournament period in accordance with the agreed regional plan.
During the training course, which ICAO identified its axes and work plan, the capabilities of the used navigation system were introduced through the use of simulation systems, in addition to sharing daily air traffic forecasts during the FIFA World Cup period with the concerned countries.
Mohammed Faleh Al Hajri, who is in charge of running the CAA's work, said that this session comes within the context of Qatar's preparations to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as well as fruitful cooperation with ICAO and with the countries of the region to manage the flow of air traffic and prepare for the next phase, with the aim of ensuring the provision of effective services and ensuring the safety of flights, in addition to providing streamlining and flexibility in air traffic during the FIFA World Cup period, which will witness a very high operational intensity.
He added that the course constitutes an important opportunity to introduce the level of efficiency of the navigation system in the State of Qatar and all workers in the air navigation system and the modern and advanced technologies and devices adopted in it, which in turn will contribute to achieving high performance and a level commensurate with the requirements of this important sporting event.
Al Hajri also explained that the aviation system in the State of Qatar is constantly working on preparing for the next stage through important development processes related to the Qatari airspace and related to increasing the number of air routes and air traffic controllers, and continuous updating processes for the devices and systems used in air navigation with the aim of accommodating the large air traffic expected during the country's hosting of this tournament.
