CAAT issues Ebola alert
BANGKOK, May 28 (TNA) -- The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has issued a warning to Thais travelling after the Ebola outbreak in some African countries.
The CAAT's warning follows an international announcement by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) after it was notified by the World Health Organisation (WHO) of the outbreak of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Up to May 15 forty four deaths due to Ebola has been reported in the DRC.
The CAAT is warning all Thai travellers to exercise extreme care as the WHO has categorised the outbreak in the DRC as "Very High".
Authorities in the DRC meanwhile are reported to be exercising the most intensive screening of all travellers departing from its Kinshasa airport.
As for the nine countries neighbouring the DRC which includes the Congo-Brazaville and Central African Republic, the WHO has categorised the Ebola epidemic there under "High" and is notifying all travellers to these countries to closely monitor ICAO and WHO announcements. (TNA)
