Cambodians killed, injured as their truck plunged off road

SA KAEO, Feb 2 (TNA) -- A brand-new pickup truck went off a road in Sa Kaeo province early Friday morning, killing two Cambodians and injuring 13 other compatriots. Police at the Aranyaprathet police station were informed of the road accident at about 5.30am. The wrecked silver Toyota truck was seen overturned on a bypass road near Wat Pa Khao Suan Kwang temple in Ban Mai Nong Sai sub-district. A man and a woman were killed instantly in its cab. The injured consisted of eight men, four women and a girl. They were lying and crying near the vehicle. Rescue workers sent them to Aranyaprathet Hospital. Police said the Cambodians were illegal immigrants who sneaked into the country through Ta Phraya district of Sa Kaeo and were heading for work in Pathum Thani province. A Thai woman drove the truck to pick up the Cambodians near the border in Ta Phraya at about 4.30am, charging each Cambodian 2,200 baht. She fled the scene. (TNA)
