Cassation Court orders suspects' retrial

Manama, Nov. 7 (BNA): Chief of Terror Crime Prosecution, Hamad Shaheen Al Buainain, said the Court of Cassation today rejected the verdict and returned the case of murdered policeman Mahmoud Fareed to the Court of Appeal for a new review by a different jury. The suspects will appear before the court in custody. "The Court of Cassation rejected the verdict based on its jurisdiction of considering appeals in compliance with the law without discussing the charges," Al Buainain said. The Public Prosecution had charged the suspects with organizing, joining and managing a terrorist group, killing a policeman, attempting to kill three other policemen, causing an explosion, possessing and using explosives, committing acts of sabotage and using ID cards belonging to Asian nationals. The suspects had been referred in custody to the court for their trial on charges based on witness testimonies, police investigations, confessions of the suspects and forensic and technical reports.
