Chao Phraya River Clean-Up to Reduce Waste

BANGKOK, Jan 18 (TNA) - The Marine Department has cooperated with the Maritime and Business Association in cleaning the Chao Phraya River. Transport Deputy Minister Atirat Rattanaset presided over the Saturday’s operation said that the activity was meant to create public consciousness not to discard waste into water sources. The deputy minister said the Marine Department has brought 43 boats, belonging to the state and private sectors in collecting garbage from the river, starting from the Marine Department’s pier to Sathorn pier. The Department provided five patrol boats in collecting hyacinth floating in the river while the rest collected wastes and also educated households along the river to install grease traps that can prevent grease from entering the river.
