Chiang Mai remains on alert against haze
BANGKOK, March 14 (TNA) - Thailand’s northern Chiang Mai province has remained on alert against haze, although the situation has relieved, with measures against burnings having been strictly carried on to prevent forest and outdoor fires and a return of thick smog.
According to Chiang Mai Governor M.L. Panadda Diskul, the over one-week-long haze situation in Chiang Mai has already improved, following many rounds of artificial rainmaking operations.
M.L. Panadda said that local authorities have, however, continued monitoring the air quality in the city and have remained surveillant against any return of the thick smog, including seeking cooperation from local people not to set fire in open air.
Meanwhile, dust particles were measured at 35.53 micrograms per cubic metre at the Chiang Mai Provincial Hall today, from its peak of 200.8 micrograms per cubic metre on March 8, and hot spots have also reduced in all provincial areas. (TNA)
