Chickens death in Thai Northeast caused by Gumboro

NONG KHAI, THAILAND, March 15 (TNA) - The recent death of over 3,000 chickens at a farm in Thailand's northeastern Nong Khai Province, neighbouring Laos, has been confirmed to be caused by Gumboro and Fowl Cholera. Nay Chansanitsri, head ofthe Animals Health Development Group under the Nong Khai Livestock Office, made the confirmation on Saturday, noting the chicken diseases would not infect humans. Nay reported that the 3,100 chickens at the Tuan Jai Farm of Baan Poan Charoen in Nong Khai's Ta Boh District, were found dead from March 1-10, causing a loss of 450,000 baht. The senior official insisted that all of the dead chickens were found to contract either Gumboro or Fowl Cholera diseases, which only spread through poultry. According to the senior official, the diseases could be caused through carriers which are usually found in contaminated farm equipment, namely egg, food or water trays. (TNA)
