Chinese New Year celebrated by Thais with Chinese origin
BANGKOK, January 30 (TNA) - Thai people of the Chinese descent celebrate the Chinese New Year 2014 across the country.
Thais with the Chinese origin in the southern Trang Province, for instance, worshiped their ancestors and holy spirits with food and other offerings on Thursday. Several people also visited the Guan Yu Shrine in Muang District to worship the ancient Chinese God for their good fortune and a prosperous new year.
Those in the Prachanukul Community and business areas in the southernmost Yala Province did similarly amidst tight security provided by local officers.
Thais with the Chinese origin in the northeastern Nakhon Ratchasima, meanwhile, brought offerings to worship the Thao Suranaree (Ya Mo) Statue, apart from paying respect to their ancestors and sanctity, to ask for blessings on the occasion of the Lunar New Year Festival. (TNA)
