CIFAL Doha Officially Opens
Doha, March 16 (QNA) - HE Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Center Dr. Ali Bin Fetais Al Marri and the head of the CIFAL Global Network Alex Mejia inaugurated on Wednesday the CIFAL Doha.
CIFAL Doha will represent the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and will contribute to the advancement of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. The center will also specialize in anticorruption and Sustainable Development.
CIFAL Doha is joining as the 23rd center in the CIFAL Global Network, whose mission is to strengthen the capacity of government officials and civil society leaders, empowering them to advance sustainable development. The network is comprised of International Training Centers for Authorities and Leaders located across Asia, Oceania, Africa, Europe, the Americas, and the Caribbean, thus ensuring a global outreach.
The CIFAL Global Network is coordinated by UNITAR's Social Development Program. UNITAR provides innovative learning solutions to individuals, organizations, and institutions to enhance global decision-making and support country-level action for shaping a better future.
HE Dr. Ali Bin Fetais Al Marri said that the CIFAL Doha is the first of its kind in the Arab world, and it came as a result of the confidence of international organizations in partnership with the State of Qatar, and the confidence of the international community in the wise leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. He explained that the CIFAL Doha is a specialized center that provides support to organizations and individuals.
During the center's opening ceremony, His Excellency pointed out the importance of partnership with the UN in this regard, as the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Center is the representative of the international organization in the region to train its children.
He explained that the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Center is part of the civil society in the country, and has trained 2,744 trainees in partnership with the UN, pointing out that among the trainees are ministers, judges and others.
Alex Mejia expressed the appreciation of the UNITAR for the efforts of HE Dr. Ali Bin Fetais Al Marri, a member of UNITAR's Board of Trustees, and the Center for the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption for its permanent and continuous support for anti-corruption training, which benefited more than 2,500 participants.
