Civil Service to highlight the newly announced voluntary retirement scheme for government employees

Manama, Oct. 6 (BNA): On Monday October 8th, the Civil Service Bureau will brief all public institutions’ heads of human resources departments on the newly announced voluntary retirement scheme for government employees. The voluntary retirement scheme for government employees provides civil servants early access to end-of-service packages and an opportunity to enhance their contribution to the Kingdom’s economic growth through entrepreneurship or participation in the private sector. Currently the scheme is accessible to all public institution employees who have completed at least 10 years of services, and do not hold a senior position or are not reinstated. In addition to the final salary pension, the scheme encompasses various incentives, including granting up to 5 years of service, a one-off direct cash compensation equal to the cost of purchasing 5 additional years of service, an end-of-service promotion for those eligible, plus an end-of-service indemnity. Other incentives will be added later as per the laws and regulations. Control measures are set to ensure that the efficiency of all public services are not effected by the scheme’s implementation.
