Coast guard receive new motor boat
Aktau, November 10, 2009 (Khabar) - A new generation motor patrol boat has been delivered to the coast guard unit of the Bautino Sea Port. Previously, frontier troops had to use helicopters to chase violators. Now, the coast guard has a new vessel which is able to do up to 50 knots or 90 kilometres per hour.
Talgat Turebayev, coast guard regional department chief, Kazakhstan Frontier Troops:
- This motor boat is unique and it was built by our marine engineers. It is a powerful one because it has two engines of 1500 horse power each. The boat is 19 metres in lengths and it has a beam of 4.5 metres.
The vessel was designed taking account of the peculiarities necessary for frontier troops. It is equipped with a satellite navigation system which can easily locate any vessel and a night vision device which can help with orienteering at night.
Vladimir Ignatyev, marine engineer, Zenit Uralsk Plant:
- It has a hydrojet engine. It can be steered with engine revolutions in automatic mode.
The motor boat is being tested now after which it is to be placed on its inaugural duty.
