Coffin donation to Cambodia

SA KAEO, May 9 (TNA) -- A Thai charity and officials donate 90 coffins to Buddhist temples in Cambodia’s Banteay Meanchey province for the deceased of impoverished families. Aranyaprathet Rescue Foundation received a request for coffin donation from security officials and merchants in Banteay Meanchey where several poor families cannot afford coffins for their deceased relatives. The Foundation agreed to donate 60 coffins to be distributed to crematorium sites at temples in Banteay Meanchey. After learning about the request, administrative and army officers in Arayaprathet joined the charitable act by acquiring additional 30 coffins. Cambodian officials expressed their appreciation towards the humanitarian assistance for the impoverished families. Donation of coffin for the death is considered a great merit among Buddhists. Coffin donations can be made at many locations in Thailand for the unclaimed death bodies or unidentified and the one with no relative to give them a proper burial. (TNA)
