Astana, September 12 2009, Khabar – The Sary-Shagan training range has witnessed firing activity, which happened as part of the CIS Combat Commonwealth-2009 exercises. According to the scenario of the exercises, military personnel were to blow up a camouflaged fuel depot.
Adilbek Dzhaksybekov, Defence Minister of RK:
- According to the assessment of specialists, the Kazakhstan’s air defence forces are one of the best in the CIS and today they proved it. I believe that in general our country is under good protection.
The military exercises, which happened as part of the joint air defence system of CIS countries involved Kazakhstan, Russia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan. The exercises on the Sary-Shagan training range, which was founded in the middle of the 20th century, involved over one thousand representatives of air defence forces, land forces and signalers.
