Comoros FM Says: Doha Declaration Would Enhance International Mechanism on Advancement of Women

Doha, February 13 (QNA) - The Comoros Foreign Minister Mohamed Bakr Bin Abdul Fattah has said the hosting by Qatar of the Third Ministerial Meeting of the Non -Aligned Movement (NAM) countries on the advancement of women ,would contribute much to developing an integrated action plan on the advancement of women and enabling them to play tangible role in allthe political, economic and social domains. In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on Monday on the sidelines of the Third Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement on the Advancement of Women which kicked off in Doha earlier today, the Comoros Foreign Minister said the well-organisation of such a prominent world event reflects the due keenness qatar accords to the issue of equality between the two genders and for the advancement of women. The Comoros minister voiced confidence that the Doha Declaration would come up with a set of recommendations consistent with the principles issued by the Putrajaya declaration in 2005 and Guatemala in 2009, the matter which confirms the determination and commitment of all the NAM member countries to exert whatever efforts for the advancement of women in all areas. The Comoros Foreign Minister further said that the Doha Declaration will enhance the international mechanism on the protection of women's rights in accordance with the principles of Islamic Shari'a, which honored women and guaranteed their rights inside and outside the family. For his part, HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah stressed that since HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani assumed power, the State of Qatar firmly believes in the importance of empowering women to exercise all their political, social and economic rights. He explained that this was devoted through the Constitution and the Laws in the country, especially the principle of equal rights in duties among all citizens, men and women. This came in a speech HE dr. Khalid delivered in the opening ceremony of the Third Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement on the Advancement of Women which kicked off in Doha. (QNA)
