Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education kicks off

Manama, Oct. 10 (BNA): Secretary General and Vice-Chairperson of the Higher Education Council, Dr Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa, stressed the importance for higher education to cope with digital technology and the use of artificial intelligence in education. She pointed out the role of technology in helping the students to learn and providing academic support to the teachers. Dr Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa made the statement as she patronized the second edition of the Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education, which is co-organized by the Higher Education Council and the International Group of Artificial Intelligence (IGOAI). In her inaugural speech, Dr Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa said that the report issued by the United Nations expects the value of investments in research and studies related to artificial intelligence to reach $25.7 billion by 2030. She pointed out an increase of $1.1 billion during 2019, which confirms the world's trend towards technology and artificial intelligence. The Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council stated that the future of technological development does not cause concern about the jobs in which technology will replace the human mind. She pointed out that the development in artificial intelligence will lead to the creation of new jobs in new sectors related to technology and artificial intelligence. She stressed the need to create new university disciplines and invest in artificial intelligence and technology. Chairman of the conference and IGOAI President, Dr. Jassim Hajji, expressed thanks and gratitude to Dr Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa for patronizing the second edition of the conference after the success of the first one which tackled diverse aspects of the use of artificial intelligence in education.
