Consulting service for police with depression

BANGKOK, Jan 5 (TNA) – The Police General Hospital launched a Facebook page, offering consulting service on depression for the police and their families. The hospital director, Pol Lt Gen Witoon Nithiwarangkul, MD, teams of psychiatrists unveiled the hospital’s Facebook page “Depress We Care” to be a new communication channel to give professional advice to the police and their families, suffering from depression. A consulting service hotline is also available 24 hours at 081-9320000. Last year, 170 police officers sough medical advice for the early onset of depression, mostly caused by work-related cumulative stress with noticeable signs such as loss of appetite, excessive crying and insomnia. The doctor said depression has three stages. In the middle stage, patients could think of harming other but still have self-restraint while the final stage could lead to hallucination and suicide. According the figures from 2015 to 2017, the hospital treated 1,980 patients with depression. This number includes police officers, their families and general public. (TNA)
