Cooperation with European Parliament discussed

Manama, Nov. 1 (BNA): Representatives Council Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al Mulla underlined the big strides made by Bahrain over the past years at all levels, including freedom and human rights, in particular. He praised the efforts of the legislative and executive branches in this respect, pointing out that all doors of the Representatives Council are open to answer any queries about the local affairs. He added that the representatives of the Bahraini people are in touch with international parliamentarians and organisations to clarify the truth and highlight Bahrain's achievements which are deliberately hidden by some parties. The Speaker made the remarks as he received in his office today a delegation from the European Parliament who are on a visit to Bahrain from October 31 to November 4. He underlined keenness of the Council on boosting human rights and freedom of expression as part of Bahrain's reform project. He also underscored the importance of continuous visits to parliaments across the world to promote parliamentary diplomacy and reveal the truth. The European delegation emphasized the importance of cooperation and coordination to achieve goals and exchange experiences.
