Cooperation with University of Bologna discussed

Manama, May 24 (BNA): Secretary General of the Higher Education Council, Deputy Chairperson of the Higher Education Board of Trustees, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa, received in her office today Professor Alberto Melloni, the Director of the John XXIII Foundation for Religious Studies (Fscire) and Chair holder of the UNESCO Chair on Religious Pluralism and Peace at the University of Bologna, Italy, and Chair of Comparative Constitutional Law at the University of Bologna, Dr. Susanna Mancini.
Dr. Shaikha Rana welcomed them, hailing their visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain which reflects the kingdom’s approach, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, of promoting openness on the world and fostering tolerance, constructive dialogue and coexistence. She noted the high level of the higher education establishments in Bahrain thanks to the leadership’s support and the motivating investment environment in the kingdom. She pointed out the wide range of academic programmes offered by the universities to meet the needs of the labour market, stressing keenness on cooperation with the University of Bologna to enrich academic research.
Dr. Shaikha Rana pointed out the key role played by the John XXIII Foundation for Religious Studies and the University of Bologna in promoting inter-faith dialogue and rapprochement between different cultures.
For their part, Prof. Alberto Melloni and Susanna Mancini expressed appreciation for meeting the Higher Education Council Secretary General, praising the kingdom’s progress and achievements in various fields. They also commended Bahrain’s efforts and initiatives to foster dialogue, tolerance and pluralism throughout the world. They also stressed keenness on enhancing academic cooperation between the higher education institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the University of Bologna.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Secretary General for Evaluation and Accreditation, Dr. Mona Al Balushi.
