Council of Representatives holds first session

Manama, Oct.11 (BNA): The Council of Representatives has today held its first procedural session, chaired remotely by Speaker Fawziya bint Abdulla Zainal. Addressing the virtual session, she extended, on behalf of all legislators, thanks and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa for inaugurating the 3rd session of the 5th legislative term. She praised HM the King’s keynote speech which, she said, represents a roadmap identifying the priorities of parliamentary and national work to continue the march of achievements. She underlined cooperation with the Government and the Shura Council to continue strengthening the march of comprehensive national development for Bahrain and its people. She thanked the Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh and the Parliament Minister Ghanim bin Fadhl Al-Bouainain for their cooperation. Al-Bouainain also addressed the procedural session, praising the achievements of the Council of Representatives during the previous two legislative sessions. He praised the Council of Representatives for its stances in supporting the executive branch of government and backing the national efforts to combat the novel coronavirus and mitigate its impact on the citizens, public health and the national economy. The minister reiterated the Government’s resolve to continue bolstering cooperation between the legislative and executive branches and confront the fallout resulting from the pandemic.
